Visiting the dead centre of Palermo

We set off to visit the Cappucino catacombs this morning. Our previous experiences  with the Cappucinos  in Rome left us with distict impression that they are a bunch of sicko mofos with too much time on their hands; this was affirmed once again in Palermo. What were they thinking-a huge WTF factor:

Having worked up a hearty appetite we were ready for a lunch

followed by a tour of the Massimo opera house, the third largest in Europe.

The tour included views from the roof reached by precarious ladders.

We also re-enacted the downfall of Michael Corleone on the front steps.
We then did some aimless wandering around

which included a visit to a Bangladeshi barber.

Light dinner was at a local trattoria.
Caponata with swordfish

Fettucine with seafood

Rice-a-riso
