Living in a Matera world

Breakfast in Puglia

Today we visit Matera an ancient city, made especially famous as the site where Mel Gibson crucified J. Christ. It proves to be a rather long and tedious trip but well worth the time.

We visit the troglodyte house
and have a healthy lunch at the Soul Kitchen restaurant.

We visit the local museum
Burying the hatchet
and then an even longer trip home involving much cursing in Italian; our bus driver Antonio does not seem to to be a great believer in GPS or maps. We arrive home for a feast of meatballs prepared by the villa staff.
