Drag the young folk out of bed and then drive
to the Chateau at Chenonceaux where we spend some hours touring the ramparts, interiors and gardens. The history of this joint is somewhat difficult to follow involving various kings, queens, dowagers, mistresses etc etc; however all in all not a bad pile of bricks.
We eat lunch at a local hostellerie where the quality of food could be best described as mediocre.
We then make our way to the Pagoda of Chanteloupe, a folly built in the 18th century next to some palace which has mysteriously disappeared .The staircase to the top could best be described as rickety. There is also an opportunity for the young folk to muck around in boats.
On the drive
home we stop at a supermarket to stock up on vittles for our evening meal.
