Chambord and lodging

Today, for a change, we decide to visit another chateau. This is a 2 hour drive from our digs. Eventually we arrive at the magnificent Chambord which turns out to be a vast building site containing a beautiful chateau. The big attraction here is the double-helix staircase
inspired by the DNA molecule. It turns out that the building also has a chequered history being bought and sold by various kings, dukes, mistresses and hanger ons.

We make our way back home and then dinner at the Abbey Hotel restaurant.
